NGOs members of EESC reaction towards Hungarian Government actions
NGOs members of European Economic and Social Committee (CESE) expressed their indignation in front of the searches realized by the Government of Hungary representatives, on 2nd of June, at the offices of four Hungarian NGOs. The consotium four organisations are responsible for NGO Fund administration in Hungary, part of Norway grants 2009 - 2014.
At Civil Society Development Foundation initiative, the operator of NGO Fund in Romania, they submit a letter to José Manuel Barroso, the president of European Commission, asking to analise and react on this intimidation towards independent NGOs. As they do not administer public national funds the Government Inspection Authority from Hungary legal right to audit and interference in their activity is questionable.
The organisations are expressing their concern regarding the attempts of the Hungarian Government to accuse the four NGOs of political meddling. They ask the Government representatives to stop their action and this political and administrative harassment.
